The WMU Sailing Team/Club puts Michigan's largest natural resource to good use. Based out of Gull Lake Yacht Club, the Sailing Club sets sail on Gull Lake in both the fall and spring seasons. The racing members compete at regattas across the Midwest under the Midwest Collegiate Sailing Association (MCSA) a regional denomination of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). Recreational members are welcome to all open sails and encouraged to travel with the team to all regattas.

Come sail away with the best sailing team in Kalamazoo!

Personal flotation devices (PFDs) are required to be used on any sailing outing. If you do not have a PFD we have a few to lend out. All of the boats are provided from the Gull Lake Yacht Club and are paid for through our membership dues.

Dues are usually around $60 per semester depending on how successful our fundraising goes. This makes the WMU sailing team the most cost effective club sport to join on campus. The dues collected go to buying new equipment, paying GLCC for facility use, and membership dues to the MCSA.

We sail Club 420s, Lasers, and Flying Scots. No experience is required to join the team. The only thing we ask is that you know  how to swim. Kevin will teach you if needed.
